About

Iredell County Special Olympics Ghoulish Gallop is held in Statesville, North Carolina, on October 27, 2026, with both the 5K and a 1-mile fun run and walk starting at 6:00 p.m. It is an inclusive endurance event benefiting Iredell County Special Olympics, open to participants of all ages and abilities, stroller-friendly, and run in a festive atmosphere with costumes optional.

The evening start on a Tuesday makes it easy to fit around a workday, though it changes how you eat: keep lunch normal, then something light two to three hours out. Awards go to overall and masters winners and to selected age groups, so there is a competitive edge for anyone who wants one. Beyond that, the appeal is a community evening supporting a cause while getting a run in.
