Independence Rhode Race

Independence Rhode Race is held on June 26, 2027, in Bristol, Rhode Island, alongside the town's Fourth of July celebrations. The half marathon (13.1 mi) and a two-person relay over the same distance both start at 6:30 a.m., on a course following the ocean and crossing several of the town's parks.

The two-person relay splits the half into roughly 10K each, which makes it a good way to bring someone into racing without asking them to train for thirteen miles. For the solo race, a 6:30 a.m. start on the Rhode Island shore means cool air and a possible headwind on the exposed coastal stretches: run those sections by effort and save the pushing for the sheltered miles.
