About

Hurds Farm After Dark 5K is held on October 24, 2026 in Plattekill, New York, and the whole program runs after sunset. The Big Kid Spooktacular 2K goes off at 6:30 p.m., the Little Kid Pumpkin Patch Dash 1K at 6:45, and the main 5K at 7:30. All three are listed as trail races on the farm, so the surfaces are unpaved and the light is whatever the organizers put out.

Night running on a farm course is more about confidence than speed. Bring a headlamp, shorten your stride on uneven ground, and accept that your finish time will not compare with a road 5K — that is not what the evening is for. Because the children's races run first, families can watch the youngest finish and still make the 7:30 start themselves.
