Hueston Woods Trail Race

Hueston Woods Trail Race takes over Hueston Woods State Park in Ohio on October 24-25, 2026, with a full slate on each day. Saturday brings a 30K (18.6 miles), a half marathon (13.1 miles), a 15K (9.3 miles), a 10K and a 5K, all off at 10 a.m. Sunday repeats the half, 15K, 10K and 5K and adds a 50K (31 miles), again at 10 a.m. The routes mix singletrack, paved path and grassy two-track through the park's limestone and shale terrain, known for its ancient marine fossils.

Because this is trail running, the clock behaves differently: expect to run slower than your road times and to spend more energy on footing than on pace. The half is a sensible first step off the roads if you already race 13.1 on pavement. For the 50K, a 14 to 16 week build with a weekly long run on similar surfaces matters more than raw weekly volume. Anyone racing both days should ride Saturday well inside the red line.
