About

Hope Run For Hunger 5K - Plano is an annual community event in Plano, Texas, run by the nonprofit The Source of Hope, and the 2027 edition is set for April 3 with the 5K (3.1 miles) starting at 7:30 a.m. Alongside the main race there is a kids' run and a post-race egg hunt, which makes the morning easy to bring children to rather than something you have to arrange childcare around.

Proceeds fund monthly meal distributions, student mentoring, and wraparound support for families in need across North Texas, so entry money does real work beyond the finish line. As a race, the 5K is short enough that no dedicated training block is required: if you run two or three times a week already, you are ready. Should you want to push the pace, add one weekly interval session for a month and warm up thoroughly before the 7:30 a.m. gun, which is early enough that arriving cold and going straight to the line will cost you the first mile.
