About

Hoover Choir Melody Miles 5K is on October 24, 2026 in Birmingham, Alabama, with the 5K and the 1-mile fun run both starting at 8:00 a.m. The race begins and ends at Hoover High School and features live music performances along the way. Afterward come concerts, an awards ceremony and a silent auction. It is a fundraiser for the school's choir department, with proceeds covering travel, equipment and scholarships for students in the program.

Music on course changes how a 5K feels — it breaks the distance into segments and gives you something other than your own breathing to think about, which genuinely helps if you are new to racing. Competitive runners still get a clean, timed 3.1 miles out of it. Bring the family for the mile: same start time, far shorter commitment.
