About

The Hoag OC Marathon takes place in Costa Mesa, California, over a weekend in early May, with the 5K on Saturday and the marathon and half marathon on Sunday. The three road distances are 26.2 miles, 13.1 miles and 3.1 miles, so the weekend suits first-time racers and marathoners alike. The course is located close to the State Route 55 freeway, which is worth remembering when you plan your travel and parking.

Southern California in early May is usually mild, but marine-layer mornings can give way to warm, bright sun by late in the day. If you are running the full marathon, plan your hydration and sun protection for the later miles, and sort out your race-weekend logistics early, since the 5K and the longer races run on different days.
