About

Highland Park Half Marathon, 5K and 1-Mile Walk takes place on May 30, 2027, in Highland Park, on Chicago's North Shore, reviving the former North Shore Classic. Three formats are offered: the half marathon (13.1 mi), a 5K (3.1 mi) and a one-mile community walk. Start times are not listed in our records.

North Shore courses run along the bluffs above Lake Michigan, where the wind off the water matters more than the modest elevation. Run the exposed sections by effort, and if the mile walk is on your family's program, note that it finishes long before the half marathon does — plan where to meet rather than hoping to cross paths.
