The Great Sandbagger 8K starts from the McBaine trailhead of the Katy Trail in McBaine on July 31, 2027, at 7:00 a.m. This 8K (5 miles) is all about strategy: participants must predict their finish time, then set off at staggered intervals.

It is a friendly competition in which the fastest runner wins a traveling trophy. Entry is free for Columbia Track Club members, while nonmembers pay a small fee. Time predictions must be submitted ahead of the race.
