About

The Gene Bednarowski Memorial Run takes place in Watervliet, Michigan, during the Fourth of July festival weekend, on July 4, 2027. It offers a 10K and a 5K run/walk at 8:20 a.m. and a 1-mile fun run (1.6 km) at 8:00 a.m., in honor of Gene Bednarowski, a highly respected local mentor, teacher and coach.

The event supports the Watervliet athletics program, and the course follows neighborhood streets near picturesque Paw Paw Lake, avoiding main roads. Participants compete in a range of age groups, with prizes for the top finishers. There is also a youth race and a virtual 5K option. Timing is by Southwest Michigan Timing, and parking is available at Watervliet North Elementary. Proceeds go to local sports programs.
