About

The Friends of the poor 5k takes place in New Ipswich, New Hampshire, on October 2, 2027. A timed 5K run and a 5K walk share the same 9:00 a.m. start and the same trail course. A kids' race, the Kiddy-K, rounds out the program, and the morning also features games, a visit from the local firefighters, a raffle and a silent auction. Awards go to the top performers.

Running a 5K on trails rather than roads mainly affects pace consistency: roots, rocks and changes of surface call for a shorter stride and eyes on the path ahead. For a first race, two or three runs a week for a month is enough. With a walk option and a kids' race on the same morning, the whole family can come along without everyone running the same event.
