Friday the 13th: Camp Heartbreak After Dark, by Califlow Runs, takes place in Long Beach, California, in mid-February, along the city's shoreline. It is an evening event: the half marathon (13.1 miles), called Cabin 13, starts at 5:00 p.m., while the 10K (6.2 miles), The Lake Escape, and the 5K (3.1 miles), The Killer Camp Dash, start at 6:30 p.m.

The course is USATF certified with professional timing, free race-day photos, finisher medals, overall and age-group awards and water stops. The theme is a playful broken-heart horror camp, with surprises along the route, glowing markers and volunteers cheering runners on. A finish festival adds music, a DJ, lights and a costume contest. Runners, walkers and all ability levels are welcome. Because much of the run happens at dusk, a light or reflective item is a sensible addition.
