About

Camp Shamrocked: The Friday the 13th After Dark takes place in Long Beach, California, in mid-March, along the city's shoreline. Billed as a moonlit run that mixes superstition with St. Patrick's Day, it offers a half marathon (13.1 miles), The Final Run, at 5:00 p.m., and a 10K (6.2 miles), The Counselor's Run, and a 5K (3.1 miles), The Campfire Dash, both at 6:30 p.m.

The USATF-certified course has chip timing, free race-day photos, finisher medals and awards. At the finish there is a campfire festival with a costume contest, a DJ and green lighting effects. Themed checkpoints with water and surprises along the route add to the playful mood. Runners and walkers of every level are welcome. Since the later races finish after sunset, wearing something reflective or light-colored is a good idea.
