The Franklin Academy Double Helix 1.75 Mile Race is an annual 1.75-mile (2.8 km) race in East Haddam, in the lower Connecticut River Valley, held on May 16, 2027. Its unique course, inspired by a double helix, winds across the Franklin Academy campus.

The general-public race starts at 2:15 p.m., with free kids' runs for ages 6 and under at 2:00 p.m. and for ages 7 to 12 at 2:05 p.m. Participants can run, walk or try unconventional ways of covering the course, encouraging creativity and community spirit. Awards are given in several categories, including a cash prize for a new course record. Water stations are available along the route, and post-race refreshments include Italian ice and fruit.
