The Elkhorn Relay, based in La Grande, Oregon, is a six-person team relay covering 80.6 miles (130 km) through the Elkhorn Mountains on August 7, 2027, with a 4 a.m. start from Hilgard State Park. Each teammate runs three legs, for an average of about 13 miles (21 km) per runner.

The route mixes paved roads, gravel roads and trails, with the final leg following a dirt road up to Anthony Lakes ski area. Portable toilets and volunteers are stationed along the course, but each team handles its own aid and refueling.
