Hurricane Creek Half Marathon

The Hurricane Creek Half Marathon takes place in Joseph, Oregon, in the Wallowa Mountains, in late May. It offers a half marathon, a five-mile race, a 5K and a one-mile kids' run. The half marathon is an out-and-back course that alternates between paved roads and dirt paths in the setting of the Eagle Cap Wilderness, with about 1,243 feet of climbing.

The five-mile and 5K courses have equally fine views, and the five-mile route follows part of the half marathon course. Organized by Runners of the Sage, the event has small-town character, awards for the top runners and a fun run for kids. With climbing and mixed surfaces, shoes with some traction and a steady effort uphill will serve you well.
