About

The Day of the Dead Half Marathon Austin takes place in Austin, Texas, on October 2, 2027. Four distances start together at 7:00 a.m.: the half marathon (13.1 miles / 21.1 km), the quarter marathon (6.55 miles / 10.5 km), the 5K and the 1-mile run, preceded at 6:55 a.m. by a Kids Dash. The course runs through Texas parks, with aid stations offering drinks and energy gels.

For an October half in Texas, the 7:00 a.m. start is an advantage: most of the race is done before temperatures climb, though it means a very early wake-up that is worth rehearsing in training. The quarter marathon is a handy step between the 10K and the half, useful for testing your pace before moving up. A Día de los Muertos costume contest and a post-race party with live music and Mexican food round out the morning.
