Decker Challenge and Brown Santa 5K/Kids K

Decker Challenge and Brown Santa 5K/Kids K is organized by the Austin Runners Club in Austin, Texas, on December 13, 2026. Two timed distances are on the program: the Decker Challenge Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and a 5K, both run on the same morning.

A December half marathon fits neatly at the end of a fall training block, either as the goal race itself or as a hard tune-up on the way to a spring marathon. Plan a 12 to 16 week build with one long run a week and a couple of steady-state efforts closer to race pace. If the half is more than you want in mid-December, the 5K gives you a short, honest test on the same day, and it pairs well with a club event where you will be running among local regulars.
