About
Cowboy 200 is held in Norfolk, Nebraska, on September 25–26, 2026. Organized by Ultraverse Supplements, the event has two trail formats: a 200-mile (321.9 km) starting at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, and a 100-mile starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26. Both are long trail ultras, and the 200-miler means multiple days and nights on the move in northeastern Nebraska.
Do not sign up for the 200 as a first ultra. It is aimed at runners who have finished at least one 100-mile race and want to learn how to manage sleep, feet, and food across two or three days. The 100-miler is more approachable for those with 50-mile or 100K experience. Preparation for either should stretch over 20 or more weeks and emphasize time on your feet, hiking with a pack, night running, and back-to-back long days. A crew who knows your plan and a pacer for the late miles make a real difference at this distance.
