Catalina Island Conservancy Marathon

Catalina Island Conservancy Marathon is held in Avalon, California, on Catalina Island, on March 13, 2027. The marathon (26.2 miles) is a trail race starting at 7:00 AM, followed by a 10K at 8:15 AM, a 5K at 8:30 AM and a one-kilometer kids run at 9:00 AM. It serves as the California state trail marathon championship and is the oldest trail marathon in the state, run across the island's conservancy land and its historic trails, with ocean views along the way.

A trail marathon is not a road marathon with dirt underfoot: finishing times run far slower, hiking the climbs is normal, and pacing by effort beats pacing by watch. If it is your first, arrive with several long runs on trails behind you and a nutrition plan you have already tested. The 10K and 5K give the rest of a traveling group something to run the same morning.
