The Bridge Day 5K RUN, sponsored by West Virginia University Institute of Technology, offers a rare chance to run across the New River Gorge Bridge on October 17, 2026, finishing on Court Street in Fayetteville. The 5K (3.1 miles) starts at 8:45 a.m.

The field is capped at 500 runners. Because of the road closure, walking is not permitted, and the minimum age is 8. Runners must hold a 15-minute-per-mile pace at the start, with some flexibility afterward. Participants receive a finisher medal, and age-group medals are awarded. Registration includes the option to buy event insurance. The race supports Active SWV and related community initiatives, and safety and following instructions are paramount.
