The Bizz Johnson Trail Marathon takes place in Lassen National Forest and finishes in Susanville on October 10, 2027. Alongside the marathon (26.2 miles / 42.2 km), the program includes a 50K (31 miles), a half marathon (13.1 miles / 21.1 km) and a 10K; the 50K and marathon start at 8:00 a.m., the half marathon and 10K at 9:00 a.m.
The scenic course follows the former Fernley and Lassen Branch Line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, and the trail descends considerably toward the finish in Susanville. Highlights include the Susan River Canyon and historic wooden railroad trestles. Race formats have included the marathon, the half marathon and a relay. The event is USATF-certified, allowing runners to set personal records and qualify for major marathons.
