The Back Your Badge Marathon in Plainfield runs over two days: the 1-mile Kids Fun Run on September 18, 2027, at 9:00 a.m., then on September 19 the 5K at 7:20 a.m. and the marathon (26.2 miles / 42.2 km) and half marathon (13.1 miles / 21.1 km) at 7:30 a.m. The event supports public safety agencies, including police, fire and dispatch, with a focus on the health and wellness of their personnel.

Participants can run or walk in support of the agency of their choice, and the agency that racks up the most miles receives recognition and a trophy. The route takes in various town landmarks, including historic routes and local stations. Proceeds go to public safety programs, local youth support and a scholarship program for paramedics.
