About

The 5K for K9s, officially the Friends of the Shelter 5K for K9, is a chip-timed 5K (3.1 miles) run or walk at Alum Creek State Park in Lewis Center on September 25, 2027, starting at 9 a.m.

Every step helps fund medical care for sick and injured dogs at the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center, with 100% of proceeds going to this cause. On-site participants receive a bib with a timing chip, an event T-shirt guaranteed with pre-registration, a swag bag filled with sponsor goodies, and refreshments before and after the race. The virtual 5K option lets participants run or walk the distance wherever they like and receive their T-shirt and swag bag by mail.
