Blitzen the Dotte

Blitzen the Dotte takes place in Wyandotte, Michigan, on November 21, 2026, organized by the Wyandotte Boat Club. The morning opens at 8:30 a.m. with the Little Reindeer Run, a free quarter-mile fun run for kids, and the Blitzen the Dotte 5K (3.1 miles) follows at 9:00 a.m. With a reindeer theme and a late-November date, it is a holiday-season event for families as well as regular runners.

A 5K in late fall is a good target if you want one last timed effort before winter, or a first race if you have been running for a couple of months. Six weeks of three runs a week, with one session of short pickups at a pace faster than your goal, is enough to make 3.1 miles feel comfortable. Dress in layers you can shed, do a ten-minute warm-up jog before the start and keep the first mile controlled so you have something left for the final stretch. Parents can run the kids' event with their children at 8:30 and still be on the line for the 5K half an hour later.
