About

This classic off-road triathlon starts with a roughly 0.9-mile swim off a sandy beach on Lake Tahoe, one of the purest and deepest lakes in North America.

The bike leg tests both skill and fitness, climbing a sandy grade out of Tunnel Creek before joining the famous Flume Trail, which traces the mountainside high above the lake. Riders continue past Marlette Lake and descend a rocky, fast stretch of the Tahoe Rim Trail with sweeping views. The full-distance, sprint, duathlon, and aquabike divisions all share this roughly 21.7-mile bike course with about 3,900 feet of climbing. The run is a relatively flat and scenic 5K that winds through aspens and pines with a few creek crossings.
