About

Wilcox Wild - NY is a trail ultra held in the Town of Stony Creek, New York, on September 6, 2026. The event offers a single format, a 50K (31 miles), which puts it just past marathon distance on trails. Registration runs through UltraSignup, and the name points to the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest area of the southern Adirondacks.

A 50K in early September is a classic target for runners stepping up from the road marathon to their first ultra. The distance is long enough to demand a solid aerobic base but short enough to be finished in a single morning and afternoon. Plan on a 16-week build that includes back-to-back long runs on hilly, technical ground, and rehearse your hydration and fueling on those sessions, since trail 50Ks reward steady effort and good aid-station habits far more than a fast opening pace.
