About

The Wharf to Wharf Race is a 6-mile (9.7 km) race held each July between Santa Cruz and Capitola, California, with the next edition on July 25, 2027, at 8:00 a.m. Known for its scenic oceanfront course and friendly atmosphere, it draws around 16,000 participants every year and often sells out.

The race starts near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and finishes at Capitola Wharf, after a route through coastal neighborhoods and past iconic surf spots such as Pleasure Point. Bands play along the course and spectators cheer runners all the way. The event is a major fundraiser for youth programs in Santa Cruz County; finishers receive a T-shirt, and the party continues on the beach in Capitola with awards and music.
