About

Washington Parish Free Fair 5K is run in Franklinton, Louisiana, on October 24, 2026, with the 5K (3.1 miles) starting at 7:30 a.m. It is tied to the Washington Parish Free Fair, and a single distance keeps the running side of the day short and self-contained.

An early start like this one is usually a deliberate choice in Louisiana, where the morning is the most comfortable time to race. Plan accordingly: get up early enough to have coffee and something light two hours out, and drink steadily the day before rather than gulping water on the start line. The distance itself needs no more than six to eight weeks of regular running, three or four sessions a week, to be well within reach.
