About
The Votwo Atlantic Coast Challenge runs from 1 to 3 October 2027 from St Ives, Cornwall. The full challenge covers 128.7 km of trail over three days, from Padstow to Land's End along the South West Coast Path: 42.2 km on 1 October, 42.2 km on 2 October and 44.3 km on 3 October. Each day can also be run on its own, with entries available for one, two or three days. Cliffs, secluded beaches and narrow coastal paths make up most of the terrain.
Linking three marathon distances on trail makes this a stage ultra: the difficulty lies not in the longest day but in recovering between days. Sensible preparation includes back-to-back weekends with two consecutive long runs, plus specific work on technical descents. A solid fuelling strategy for each stage and shoes suited to the uneven coastal footing are also essential.
