The Vermont Sun Half Marathon takes place in Salisbury, Vermont, in early May, at Branbury State Park on the shore of Lake Dunmore. The park sits at the foot of the Green Mountains, close to Rattlesnake Point, and the half marathon (13.1 miles) has about 869 feet of climbing. All races, including a 10K and a 5K with roughly 377 feet of climbing, start at 9:00 a.m.

The preserved lake region of central Vermont offers a scenic setting, and beginners and experienced runners alike can enjoy the natural beauty of the mountains, lakes and streams. With nearly 900 feet of ascent over the half, expect rolling terrain, so run the climbs by effort and use the descents to recover.
