About

USS Hornet Halloween 5k is held in Alameda, California, on October 30, 2026, with the 5K starting at 6:30 p.m. The event benefits the USS Hornet museum, and the setting is the Alameda waterfront, with views across to San Francisco and along the estuary shoreline.

An evening 5K on flat waterfront ground is a fair place to look for a fast time, since 3.1 miles is short enough that most runners can race it without a dedicated build. Four to six weeks of steady running with one weekly interval session covers the preparation. If you are not chasing a result, the distance is manageable at a walk-run pace. Bay air cools quickly after sunset, so have a jacket ready for the moment you stop moving.
