About

Trick or Trot Halloween 5k Run/Walk takes place in Rensselaer, Indiana, on October 31, 2026. One format is listed, a 5K fun run and walk over 3.1 miles, starting at 8:00 a.m.

Billed as a fun run, this is a race you can enter without a formal training plan, which makes it a reasonable first target if you have been running on and off. Three sessions a week for four weeks — two easy runs and one that gradually stretches past two miles — is enough to cover 3.1 comfortably. Runners with a base can still race it hard, but remember that a fun run field starts fast and fades, so the people ahead of you at half a mile are not necessarily the people ahead of you at the finish.
