About

The Valley 5K Walk and Run takes place in Norwood, New Jersey, on October 24, 2026, and runs three formats back to back. The Kids Sprint Challenge covers about half a mile at 8:15 a.m., the 1 Mile Challenge follows at 8:30 a.m., and the main 5K walk and run starts at 9 a.m. The staggered timetable means a family can enter more than one event in the same morning.

Road events built this way are best treated as a shared outing rather than three separate races. Younger entrants get a short, achievable distance, the mile suits anyone testing their speed, and the 5K gives adults a real effort to work with. If the mile is your target, practice it: two or three sessions of 400-yard repeats in the weeks beforehand teach you the pace far better than steady jogging does.
