The Itch

The Itch takes place in Ocala, Florida, on October 17, 2026. There is one format: a 50K (31 miles) trail race starting at 7 a.m., run in the Ocala area of north central Florida in the middle of October.

Florida ultras have a reputation for being flat, and that is a mixed gift. Without hills there is nothing to force a walk break, so the effort stays constant for hours and the muscular fatigue comes from repetition rather than climbing. Heat and humidity can still be a factor this time of year, so drink on a schedule rather than by thirst and start conservatively. If this is your first ultra, a 16-week build off a marathon base, with a long run reaching four hours and a fueling plan you have actually tested, is the right preparation.
