Tanker Trot

Tanker Trot is run on the flight line of McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas, on October 24, 2026. The 5K (3.1 miles) starts at 7:30 a.m., and the course takes you along the active runway past military aircraft, including United States Air Force Thunderbirds. Every participant receives a long-sleeve event shirt and a finisher medal.

Awards go to the top male and female runners overall and within age-group categories, so there is a competitive edge to the morning if you want one. Running on an airfield means wide, flat, open surface underfoot, the kind of setting where an even pace pays off more than tactics. A 7:30 gun on a base also means arriving early for access, so build the extra time into your morning. Six to eight weeks of consistent running will have you ready to race the distance.
