About

The Steamworks Half Marathon takes place in Durango, Colorado, in La Plata County, in early June, in the San Juan Mountains. The demanding half marathon (13.1 miles) starts at Baker's Bridge and finishes at the Durango Fitness Club, with the main start at 7:30 a.m. and early and standard start options for different paces. The course is USATF certified and follows the Animas River along County Road 250.

Runners compete at an altitude of roughly 6,500 feet, so the thin air will be felt, especially if you live near sea level. Only 250 participants are allowed. Afterward, a pool party at the finish serves food and drinks provided by Steamworks Brewing and Homeslice Pizza.
