Sri Chinmoy Thanksgiving Day 5K, 10K & Kids Race

Sri Chinmoy Thanksgiving Day 5K, 10K & Kids Race takes place in New York, New York, on November 26, 2026, at Flushing Meadows Park. Both the Sri Chinmoy 10K (6.2 miles) and the Sri Chinmoy 5K (3.1 miles) start at 9:00 a.m. on a scenic USATF-certified course, and a kids race rounds out the program. Organized by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in partnership with the NYC Parks Department, the event supports Flushing Meadows Corona Park through its proceeds. Every finisher receives a medal, and a pancake breakfast follows the race. A virtual option is available if the event has to be canceled for unforeseen reasons.

A certified course in a city park is about as PR-friendly as Thanksgiving racing gets, so if you have a 5K or 10K time to beat, this is a good place to try. For the 10K, eight to ten weeks with a weekly long run of 6 to 8 miles and one faster session is enough; for the 5K, six weeks of three runs per week will do. Warm up thoroughly and keep your layers on until just before the start.
