Spivey Hill Challenge

Spivey Hill Challenge is held in Graham, Texas, on November 7, 2026, in honor of local figures Dr. Jamie Epperson, a dentist, Bill Spivey and Spencer Street III. Three options are on offer: a demanding 5K at 9:00 a.m., an untimed two-mile Walk and Talk at 9:05 a.m., and an untimed one-kilometer fun run for children at 10:00 a.m. Entrants of any age can find a format that fits.

The name is a fair warning about the 5K, and hills change how you should race it: run the climbs by effort rather than pace, and use the descents to get the time back instead of braking. A few weeks of hill repeats, six to eight efforts of 60 to 90 seconds up a moderate grade, will pay off more than flat speed work. The untimed formats take that pressure off entirely.
