About

The NYC Half Marathon takes place in New York, New York, in mid-March and is organized by the New York Road Runners. The 13.1-mile race brings together more than 25,000 runners and crosses both Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The route runs through Times Square, which is closed to cars for the event, climbs a bridge into Manhattan and finishes in Central Park. Overall the course is fairly quick, with about 492 feet of elevation gain, and the bridge ascent is the main challenge. Bands, music groups and volunteers line the course from start to finish. March in New York is unpredictable, from near freezing to mild, so bring a throwaway layer for the start corrals, where you may wait a while before the race begins.
