About

Scarecrow Run 5k - FL is held in Dade City, Florida, on October 31, 2026, and is put on by the Pioneer Florida Museum. A single distance is offered, a 5K covering 3.1 miles, with the start set for 8:00 a.m.

An early Halloween start suits anyone hoping to run 3.1 miles hard, but only if you arrive in time for fifteen minutes of easy jogging and a few strides; a 5K is short enough that going in cold costs you most of the first mile. The training behind it does not need to be elaborate. Three or four runs a week for a month, one of them with repetitions at a pace slightly quicker than you intend to race, and an easy week leading into October 31 will cover the distance for most runners.
