About

The San Felipe Shootout takes place in San Felipe, Texas, in the second half of March, at the SFA State Park, a natural area near Houston with hiking and camping. The 5K (3.1 miles) starts at 7:30 a.m., the 10K (6.2 miles) at 8:30 a.m., the half marathon (13.1 miles) at 10:30 a.m. and a kids' 1K (0.6 miles) at 10:45 a.m.

Participants can enter individual races or the "Shootout" format, which means completing all three races back to back for a combined time. Finishers receive a medal for each race, and the overall winners get unique awards. Concerts and food trucks add to the day. Southeast Texas is already warm and humid by late March, so the Shootout in particular calls for careful hydration and an honest pacing plan between races.
