About
Runtastic DINO takes place in Vernal, Utah, in early May, in a region known for its prehistoric dinosaur bones and nicknamed Dinosaurland. The half marathon (13.1 miles) starts in Dry Fork Canyon at 7:30 a.m., and the 5K starts at Maeser Elementary School at 8:00. Both finish at Uintah High School, so the courses run point to point.
A children's race of about half a mile begins at 10:45, which keeps the program friendly for families. The organizers welcome seasoned runners and beginners alike. Because the start is in a canyon, the first miles may feel cooler than the finish, so dress for a change in temperature, and remember that Vernal sits at about 5,000 feet.
