The Running Scared 5K - Fort Myers, FL, billed as the Running Scared 5K – Pumpkin Challenge, takes place at Florida Gulf Coast University on October 2, 2027, starting at 8:30 a.m. In this one-of-a-kind 5K (3.1-mile) race, participants carry pumpkins along the course, choosing from pumpkins of different sizes at various points, which makes for strategic trade-offs between weight and distance.
The event supports Special Olympics Florida and builds a community atmosphere with post-race activities and festivities. Awards will be given in several categories based on chip net time, and every participant will receive a T-shirt and a finisher medal.
