About

The Rose of the Shires Ultra is a stunning 54-mile (87 km) loop in the heart of Northamptonshire, based in Northampton and starting at 8:00 on 10 April 2027. It offers a fully waymarked, fully supported ultra experience, and the programme also includes The Rosebud Marathon (42.2 km, start at 11:30) and 54-mile relays for teams of three, four or seven runners.

Designed with the local running community, the route mixes countryside paths, quiet lanes and towpaths, all clearly marked, with 6 aid stations spaced 6 to 8 miles apart. Runners pass through 21 picturesque villages and towns, two country parks, Salcey Forest and long stretches of the Grand Union Canal. The course takes in sections of the Nene Way, the Midshires Way and the Northampton Round, offering variety and challenge throughout.

As a UTMB Index race, it also provides qualification for those aiming to compete on the world stage.
