Roofs From The Heart 5K

Roofs From The Heart 5K takes place in Wilmington, Delaware, in New Castle County, on October 31, 2026. One format is on the schedule, a 5K run or walk over 3.1 miles, starting at 9:00 a.m. Participants are invited to dress up, with prizes for the best adult and youth costumes, and entries fund new roofs for families who need them.

If you plan on wearing a costume, try it on an easy run first, because anything that shifts, chafes or traps heat becomes a problem well before mile three. Otherwise the demands are light: 3.1 miles is walkable for most people and runnable on a few weeks of training three times a week. Runners already in shape can use the morning as a hard tempo rather than an all-out race, adding a warm-up mile and a cool-down mile to make it a proper session.
