About

The Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race offers a 10K (6.2 miles) and a 5K (3.1 miles) run and walk in Pittsburgh on September 26, 2027. The 5K starts at 8:00 a.m. and the 10K at 9:30 a.m.

On the 2026 edition, the 5K started at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Atwood Street in Oakland, while the 10K started in Frick Park on Beechwood Boulevard. Both routes used Forbes Avenue, Fifth Avenue and the Boulevard of the Allies before reaching a shared finish at Point State Park. The mostly downhill profile makes both distances good for personal bests, but beware the classic trap of downhill courses: going out too fast costs you late in the race, and long descents hammer the quads. A few downhill runs in the three weeks beforehand will help your legs adapt to the eccentric load. With the 10K starting an hour and a half after the 5K, families have time to follow both races.
