About

RGRH Spooktacular Stroke Awareness 5K takes place in McAllen, Texas, on October 25, 2026, with a single 5K run and walk starting at 8:00 a.m. The event is built around stroke awareness, and the Halloween-weekend timing shows in the name.

A 5K that welcomes walkers alongside runners is a good place to bring people who have never entered an organized event, and 3.1 miles is a distance most people can complete on foot without special preparation. If you are racing it, the useful sessions in the month beforehand are short repetitions, five to eight times 400 meters at faster than goal pace, on top of easy running. Arrive by 7:15 a.m. so the warm-up is not rushed.
