Oklahoma Celtic Breakaway

Oklahoma Celtic Breakaway takes place in Norman, Oklahoma, on November 7, 2026, with the Celtic 5K and a one-mile fun run/walk both starting at 9:00 a.m. Two formats off the same gun make it easy for a mixed group to enter together and still finish close to one another.

The mile is the underrated option. It hurts for a shorter time and teaches you what genuinely fast running feels like, which most road runners rarely practice. The 5K is the more familiar test at 3.1 miles: run the first mile a touch slower than goal pace, settle through the second, then empty the tank. Four weeks of easy running with one weekly interval session, say five efforts of three minutes, will prepare you for either.
