OceanView Half Marathon & 5K Challenge takes place in Ipswich on November 1, 2026. The half marathon (13.1 miles) starts at 9 a.m. and the 5K at 9:25 a.m. The route follows the coastline of Great Neck, with ocean views and a stretch past some of the oldest historic homes in the country, and the event is open to participants of all ages.

Plenty to look at makes this a friendly first 13.1 miles as much as a fitness test. Aim for a 12-week build with a weekly long run reaching 10 or 11 miles, and add one steady tempo run a week if you intend to race it rather than run it. The 9 a.m. start is late enough for a normal breakfast and a proper warm-up, and the 5K a few minutes later gives anyone in the family a shorter way into the same morning.
